Patricia (Pat) Jean Zabriskie, 82, of Creedmoor, died on Wednesday, February 08, 2017, at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Creedmoor in Granville County. She was the only child of William B. Zabriskie and Mamie Chappell Zabriskie. She graduated from Creedmoor High School in 1952 and was proud of the fact that she was the “first” May Queen at Creedmoor High School. She graduated as Valedictorian of her senior class. She worked with Home Security Life Insurance Company in Durham after graduation until she took early retirement. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Creedmoor until she began to be in declining health several years ago.

Being an only child she is survived by several cousins with Betsy Chappell Dixon of Butner and Jenny James Jeanes of Mount Olive being her closest cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. She was blessed to have several caring neighbors and friends during her declining months. Avery, her cat of 15 years, is her loving surviving companion.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, at 11 a. m. at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor with Dr. Opey Jeanes of Mount Olive and The Reverend James Shelley, Jr., Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Creedmoor, officiating. Visitation will be held immediately after the service at the funeral home. The interment will follow the visitation at the Creedmoor Cemetery.
